Period Sovereignty

You are a Goddess Bleeding, treat yourself so

Dear Munchkin,

How are you?

No, I mean how are YOU really?

It’s not a question out of formality.

Are you taking care of yourself? Are you nourishing your body, your temple? Are you taking good care of this vessel that was gifted to you?

Or are you taking its functions for granted? I know this is a tough one to answer; because most of us are…

The female body has specific needs. As I have mentioned on my YouTube channel, we don’t have a 24-hour cycle like men, and yet we treat ourselves like that.

I want you to do one activity with me. I want you to note for a month how you spend your day(s), what you eat, how much you sleep, and any other activity.

You will realize how little you do to support your feminine health. But don’t fret! I’m here to teach you the A to Z that I know about improving the quality of life as a Woman.

First and Foremost

Reclaim your Period. The time of menstruation has to be relaxed, calming, and life-regenerating. That’s the feeling you should be having. Nature did not intend this time to be nerve-wracking, with mood swings, heavy bloating, nausea, heavy cramps, and all the other symptoms that are considered “normal”.

Nature is perfect. The invasions we make in its way are the problem. Period pain, for example, is caused by underlying issues including estrogen dominance, inflammation, stress, tightness in the pelvic floor, poor emotional hygiene, and gut imbalances exacerbated by the poor diet most follow during these days.

The release of period blood is the “making again” of a woman every month. In ancient times, during the release of this blood, a woman was revered as a Goddess incarnated, like she had special outworldly powers.

Contrary to belief, menstrual blood is not a body “waste” like feces. It’s abundant in nutrients like zinc, iron, magnesium, etc., and stem cells, and has been used in many traditional healing practices. Long ago before the “modern” world, women used to bleed freely on earth, for their menstrual blood is an excellent plant fertilizer!

As I am writing this piece I realize how much there is I want to share on this topic. I have hardly scratched the surface.

Some personal experiences, trials and errors, and more than a decade of struggle in this position where I am finally comfortably menstruating, and enjoying all the phases of my cycle with good health.

Remain up to date with my YouTube, where I will share all this experience in a tete-a-tete easily digestible form 🙂 And continue here with little pills of period wisdom 😀

Yours,
Zitni Zun, <3
