🍡 My experiece with Date Seed Coffee

and why you should try it too!

My honey bunnies! πŸ°πŸ’•

About a month ago I wrote a post - Realistic Plan to Quit Caffeine. Check it out here. πŸ“

I eventually did consume it after 3 months, this month. And boy, did it feel incredible. β˜•βœ¨

In the first couple of sips yeah. Halfway through the cup, I noticed it wasn’t anything extraordinary. It was equal to any hot herbal concoction I had been making all this while. 🌿🍡

I didn’t miss it as much as I thought I did. I just missed the liberty to consume it. You know, how you want exactly what you can’t have? It was one of those things. πŸ€”βŒ

Believe it or not, I struggled to finish the cup. πŸ˜…

But I wasn’t prepared for what was to come later. The coffee rush, the anxiety, the increased heart rate, and the general β€œoff” feeling like someone has pulled me from my place of calm. πŸŒ€πŸ’“

That evening my coffee substitute finally arrived in the mail, and I’m excited to share my experience! πŸ“¦πŸŽ‰

Date-Seed Coffee πŸ‚β˜•

Materials needed-

- Dates (preferably Ajwa Dates because of their chocolate caramel-like taste) 🍫

- Parchment paper πŸ“œ

- Cinnamon sticks πŸŒΏ

- Cardamom pods πŸŒ±

- Butter/ extra virgin Coconut oil (optional) 🧈πŸ₯₯

How to-

1. Pit about 200 grams of dates.

2. Wash and Dry them. πŸ’¦πŸ§Ό

3. Line a cooking tray with parchment paper and spread out the seeds evenly. πŸͺ

4. Roast these seeds in the oven for 40 minutes at 200 degrees C. Shake up the tray every 10 minutes so they don’t burn. πŸ”₯⏲️

5. Grind the roasted seeds along with a few cinnamon sticks and cardamom pods. 🌰

6. Take a spoonful of the powder and transfer it to a French press. πŸ₯„

7. Fill it up with hot water and brew the date seed coffee for 5-7 mins. πŸ•–

8. Pour the concoction into a cup and add a spoonful of butter or extra virgin coconut oil on top. β˜•πŸ§ˆ

And that’s it! πŸŽ‰

But if you don’t have the time for this, you can certainly buy the ground date pits online, and just add hot water to it. This is the brand I used. πŸ›’πŸŒ

Why the Date-Seed Coffee? 🌟

- I love the roasted flavor of date seeds, and yes, in that way they do resemble coffee. πŸ˜‹

- It uplifts your mood and makes you energetic, much like your cup of joe but without the jitters. πŸŒžπŸ’ƒ

- Date seeds aid digestion and promote gut health. 🍽️🩺

- They are a good source of potassium, magnesium, calcium, and iron. πŸ₯”πŸ”‹

- They reduce inflammation in the body. 🌿❀️

- They are suitable for people who are looking to manage their blood sugar levels. 🍬🩸

- They can help to reduce oxidative stress in the body. βš‘πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈLearn what oxidative stress can cause you here.

- They are filled with antioxidants that can help promote a youthful appearance. πŸ’§βœ¨

Date Seed coffees are nothing new; they’ve just been popularized by social media recently. The Middle-Eastern cultures have been drinking them for ages. 🌍⏳

I had my first sip on my trip to Turkey, a country that values Indigenous traditions to co-exist with modernity. πŸŒΏπŸ™οΈ

A huge reason why I love this recipe is that it reduces food waste, and in that way promotes ancient wisdom, holistic nutrition, and living close to nature. 🌱🌍

If you try this, please let me know! πŸ“§πŸ’¬

In the coming letters, I will reveal more natural stimulants and teas I’m drinking these days πŸŒΈβ˜•

Love,

Zitni Zun πŸ’–πŸŒŸ
