My Food Journey: Sacrifices, Surprises, and Staying Sane
Eating Heal-Thy 💖
My Angels, ✨
Do you know that feeling when someone validates their own opinion by discrediting yours?
Like buddy, you asked me for my opinion; now at least respect my answer!
Besides my self-imposed food restrictions, I stopped eating a multitude of things (trash) in various stages of my life:
2011 - stopped drinking soft drinks like Pepsi, Sprite (my favorite) 🥤
2012 - gave up Maggi and all instant noodles, chips, candy, and chocolates 🍫
2017 - hydrogenated oil, processed food 🥡
2019 - peanuts, all confectionary Indian sweets 🥜
2022 - lentils as a part of daily diet, ALL mainstream packaged snacks, including packaged spices 🌾
Most people who know me know about my eating habits. I happily answer when asked the - WHY, but because THEY want to feel satisfied with their food choices, they bring me down.
My Restrictions are Personal 🌱
Some because of certain unexplained bloodwork stats. Some, an experiment. Some, beliefs of what’s right and wrong for me. And finally and most importantly, I want to have healthy children and a fit body in advancing age.
Food Discipline is Not Easy 🍽
More so for women - the emotional eaters. Once in a blue moon, I do taste pasta or have ice cream outside, but it's not my lifestyle. When I step out with friends, it's not easy to choose options.
But to me, that sacrifice is worth it. I’m doing it to remain sane, live a higher quality life (and it shows!), and for my future generation.
This post isn’t to show me in some Holier Than Thou light.
But just to tell you that Food is a HUGE part of our lives. We are what we eat, quite literally. And so, if you have made some tough choices to remain disciplined, do NOT feel small when someone tells you -
“You only live once!”,
“How Can You Enjoy Life Without Good Food?”, or
“Stop This BS and Be Normal Like the Rest of Us!”.
For these people, Normal means having aches and pains every other day. So do you really want to be NORMAL?
Next, I will discuss how to prepare your body if you want to be pregnant in the coming years :) Stay tuned!
Love,
