Oversold and yet Underexperienced
Hi girlies,
I welcome this quiet time with great regard. Nature is hibernating, giving us a moment for introspection.
As I prepare my body (once again) to take up fitness and well-being more seriously, I got to thinking-
What truly constitutes as Living Well?
There is of course your Diet and Lifestyle, but some metrics are highly ignored.
Good Environment, Purpose in Life, and Love.
A good environment is conducive to good mental and emotional health. It helps you to live without fear of judgment, walking on eggshells, and hiding your authentic self, all while supporting your bigger goals in life.
A purpose in life helps us map out our daily routine and creates discipline, and a sense of satisfaction. Without a purpose or something worthwhile to do in life, we cannot enjoy or justify our existence. Yeah, occasionally it feels great to laze around and do nothing, but even nothing can get boring. Doing nothing can even drive one crazy!
And Love - Oversold and yet Underexperienced.
The pop culture has aggressively pushed the idea of being a Boss Woman upon us; paired with the unrealistic expectation of finding a “High-Value” (a pseudonym for Rich & Successful), handsome, and One-Percenter kind of man.
Young and impressionable women invest in fantasy stories that some ultra-masculine movie star would take them on a fancy European getaway and buy her all the luxury in the world. So they swipe left every guy virtually and in real life, and continue in the cycle of disappointment year after year.
The culture of fangirling over celebrities and (quite literally) building a life around people who don’t even know you exist is downright absurd (to say the least)! Millions of women around the world worship Korean boy bands and T.V. actors. Women are going ga–ga over them - many aspiring to score a lookalike of their favorite celebrity as a partner.
But shouldn’t the foundation of a romantic relationship be based on matching Values, Morals, Faiths, Goals, and Thinking Lines?
There is much discussion on the topic of “finding love” or “falling in love” - but people are attached to the idea of Love alone, not the meaning of being in love.
Love consists of Mutual Respect, Care, Trust, Loyalty, Attraction, and so many dimensions that somewhere have lost their essence over time.
And that’s why Love is so under-experienced today. We haven’t lived fully if we have missed out on opening our hearts and allowing space for another; the human experience is meant to be shared, not to be spent in isolation.
Love and Purpose in life can be a catalyst to make living worthwhile.
