PUFA Poison: The Oil That Silences Your Thyroid
How seed oils hijack your hormones and slow your metabolism

Yesterday, I talked about how prolonged starvation leads to adrenal stress and ultimately results in reduced thyroid function.
When thyroid function is reduced:
Our metabolism slows down
It becomes difficult to lose weight

Now let’s talk about another major factor that fries our thyroids 🥴 — Seed Oils.

🌻 What Are PUFAs?
PUFAs, or Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids, are commonly found in:
Soybean oil
Rice bran oil
Canola oil
Sunflower oil
They’ve been pushed as “healthy” oils, but the growing concerns around them are not without reason.
PUFA oils are not only heavily processed, but also:
Extracted using harmful chemicals like hexane
Subjected to bleaching and deodorization
Stripped of any natural integrity in the name of shelf life
⚡ Why PUFAs Are Chemically Unstable
PUFAs are structurally unstable due to their multiple double bonds. This instability makes them:
Prone to oxidation — especially when heated
Dangerous inside the body, where they:
Create free radicals
Cause cellular damage
Trigger inflammation
🚨 Estrogenic & Thyroid-Disrupting
Not only are PUFAs pro-inflammatory, but they are also highly estrogenic 😬. That’s bad news for the thyroid gland, which is extremely sensitive to oxidative stress.
The thyroid plays a central role in:
Hormonal balance
Metabolism
Energy regulation
When PUFAs enter the picture, they:
Block key enzymes involved in hormone production
Obstruct hormone pathways, preventing hormones from reaching target organs
Disrupt the conversion of T4 to active T3 hormone in the liver

People who consume PUFA-rich oils daily experience:
